Was there over the weekend and remembered this blog , thanks. Though to add to the confusion the 'Tour Eiffel' sign does seem to point down "Avenue De Bourdonnais" rather than across the road down "Avenue de la motte picquet"

Interesting post. Last week, walking in the forest, I used to turn the map and also move myself to make navigation more intuitve. The crew I was with shouted simultaniously "you navigate like a woman". I am glad you have written this post to set give me a better feeling.

Good analogy. One of my consulting difficulties has been to convince BI groups that self-service for users is much like working without a map. I make them watch users struggle to build things so they grasp the problem and then outline a more structured design approach, similar to what you did here by bringing the London alternative into it. If I have to do that kind of work again, you made my job of explaining a little easier.

Timo,

I learned to "orient" my maps in Boy Scouts. Nicely explicated.

Anyway, we used to live on a peniche moored at Quay d'Branly. We could have been neighbors.
