It&#8217;s\u00a0a fully interactive, physical, digital and emotional\u00a0<span class=\"bold style-scope yt-formatted-string\">experience<\/span>\u00a0that brings to life examples of how the latest technologies can transform your business.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MPpYaZQNNHo?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Experience Center is open to all companies across the Nordic region and beyond and\u00a0 includes a dedicated space for Design Thinking workshops as part of SAP Leonardo projects.<\/p>\n<p>As\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/schleimann\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jesper Schleimann<\/a>, SAP Nordic CTO explained, the goal is to provide businesses and organizations with a new perspective on digitalization: &#8220;We want to specifically provide them with methods, tools and prototypes to make their digital journey real.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-i9im9COZWI?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The launch event included presentations of innovative projects from companies across the region including Vestas, SKF, and Statoil. The common theme was truly agile innovation using the latest technologies and design thinking.<\/p>\n<p>For example, Vestas is a world leader in wind turbine technology. Wind turbine installation is complicated and requires intense planning \u2013 which often happens in remote areas with harsh weather conditions. To enable on-site engineers to focus on the job while centrally capturing project progress and alterations, Vestas Wind Systems worked with SAP to <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sap.com\/vestas-apple-ios-workforce-mobility\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">create a new OnePlan application, using SAP Cloud Platform<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9MVzQlnoXhA?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Design thinking methodology was a new way of working for Vestas, but\u00a0Peter Michael Nielsen, SAP technology director for Vestas, says that now that they&#8217;ve tried it, they\u00a0have realized it&#8217;s\u00a0a great enabler for\u00a0their future development.\u00a0His strong recommendation is that all companies should embraces these changes and not be afraid to embark on a co-development and design thinking journey.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UqcxHz4RF1s?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>SKF is an industrial engineering powerhouse headquartered in Gothenberg, Sweden. The company chose SAP Leonardo and Design Thinking to provide a systematic approach to digital innovation.<\/p>\n<p>I highly recommend the video below as a great example of what these techniques can achieve.\u00a0What made the project interesting was the final result: not just a new application to help the workers on the factory floor, but a renewed sense of common purpose around innovation: &#8220;SKF is as much about people and interconnectivity as it is about bearings, and the people are the foundation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uXlNSM-rISQ?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Norwegian giant Statoil talked about an application designed to help a hypothetical &#8220;Tom the Vessel Planner&#8221; reduce cost and CO2 emissions by optimizing sailing plans, improving cargo information quality, and reduce turnaround time.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/timoelliott.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/statoil-tom-the-vessel-planner-1.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14108\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/timoelliott.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/statoil-tom-the-vessel-planner-1.jpg?resize=552%2C599&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"552\" height=\"599\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once again, SAP Leonardo and Design Thinking proved an effective approach for quickly understanding complex business requirements and designing simple future solutions. The end-user involvement and quick prototyping helped effectively test concepts and secure business buy-in.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, I can&#8217;t recommend participating in these centers highly enough.
