Here’s the problem with existing IT systems that “work fine”. When you suddenly need to find new ways of working, you can’t!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heavily customized, on-premise system just aren’t as agile as modern cloud infrastructures. You have to say “no” more often to changes the business wants, and it takes longer to implement every change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In every industry I talk to, business models are changing: moving from selling things to selling things + connected services, and more subscription and shared-risk pricing. And you won’t necessarily get to decide when you need to change as new competitors take advantage of the new opportunities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will you be able to react fast enough when that happens? What’s the ROI of being able to avoid the next steamroller in your industry? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And this ties back to the previous post on ROI calculations<\/a>: just because it’s hard to calculate the value of not being run over, doesn’t mean the value isn’t real!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
