Next week it’s the SAPPHIRENOW + ASUG annual conference, in Orlando Florida. Over 20,000 people are expected to attend, and it’s a great opportunity to mix and mingle, hear about real project implementations, and get the latest information from industry and product experts.
Analytics is still the hottest topic in technology, and so will undoubtedly loom large in the keynotes from Bill McDermott, Bernd Leukert, and Hasso Plattner.
I have the honor of presenting a session on what I think are the latest interesting industry trends in BI and analytics.
Digital transformation has made data insights more essential than ever, and the surge in “modern” self-service data discovery tools means big changes to how organizations must now organize and govern their analytics projects. Gartner has joked that today’s centralized, IT-focused analytics organizations are “BI-nosaurs” that are on the fast track to extinction – I’ll be exploring why they believe this, and what organizations can do to thrive in the new era. Finally, I’ll talk about my views on how new Artificial Intelligence technologies such as machine learning will lead to big changes in how we do analytics.
Please join my session Disruption Ahead: The Big Trends in Business Intelligence and Analytics on Tuesday, 11-12pm in room S310B (South Concourse, Level 3), #BIA6939:
Analytics is no longer an afterthought to operational systems: it’s now the foundation for the innovative organizations of the future. But these new opportunities bring big disruptions to traditional business intelligence (BI)technology and teams. Join this session to hear what’s in your future: new forms of BI organization and new technologies, including “modern” self-service BI and data preparation; predictive analytics and data scientists; and the rise of the Hadoop and Spark ecosystem.
My session is just one of the many informative analytics-focused presentations at the conference – here are some others that I’m personally going to try to attend:
- Advance Your Digital Transformation Journey with SAP Leonardo
- Act in the Moment with Confidence to Thrive in a Rapidly Changing World
- World Premiere of SAP BusinessObjects Lumira 2.0
- Molex Experiences SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio: Crawl, Walk, and Run Faster
- Ferrara Candy Company’s Sweet Mobile Journey with SAP BusinessObjects Lumira
- Take the Actionable Steps Needed to Reimagine Your Business
- Deliver Predictive Insight to Business Users with Smart Data Discovery
- How a Data Hub Can Help Promote Your Big Data Strategy
- Generate a Digital Twin with the Internet of Things
To see a complete list of analytics sessions available, click here — and of course there will be a lot more information available on the show floor and in the demo area.
I’ll also be interviewing key industry leaders at the show to get their thoughts about the latest trends — watch this space for more details!
Finally, it’s not about the technology, it’s about the community. More people use analytics products from SAP than any other vendor, and the evening networking events are a perfect opportunity to discuss your challenges with other people in your industry. I’ll be joining the ASUG BI Community Networking event on Wednesday at 11-12 in the ASUG Hub area, organized by Derek Loranca, and please consider joining one of the influencer sessions to guide our future analytic roadmaps.
If you’re a regular reader, and you’ll be at the conference, drop me a line — I hope to see you next week!
